It is inevitable…
We are exposed to viruses, bacteria and contagious disease as we go about our daily lives. Whether out shopping, at work, school, the gym or pumping gas, we will likely come into contact with bacteria or a virus rather frequently and bring it home, exposing our friends and family. Thankfully, there are solutions to combating these no-good critters and we would like to introduce you to the all natural, antiviral and antibacterial benefits of essential oils. These sacred oils have qualities that kill viruses and build up your body’s immunity to fend off illness and heal faster. Let’s explore!
Throughout history...
Essential oils have long been utilized to defend against disease on a grand scale. Did you know that Hippocrates himself (known as “the father of modern medicine”) was said to have fumigated the city of Athens with essential oils to fight the plague in the 19th century? The city ultimately avoided a threatening outbreak of cholera. Not a bad call!
Differently than synthetic drugs...
Essential oils are constantly evolving in order to protect plants from infection and therefore viruses and bacteria do not become immune to their healing properties. They have the capability of halting viruses in their tracks from spreading and obstructing the growth of bacteria. Essential oils strengthen the cells so they can prevent the influx of a virus. Fun fact! When an essential oil is applied to your skin, it will make its way into all of your cells in about 20 minutes along with all of it’s nourishing properties. This shows how fast-acting and effective these oils can be.
Prevention is best...
Using essential oils daily will give you the greatest chance of fending off bugs before they have a chance to attack you. This can be done by keeping essential oils in the air in your home or vehicle through a diffuser. You can also rub or spray them directly on your skin or take an essential oil supplement. The first sign of a cold, flu or other viral or bacterial infection is the time to ramp up your routine. To knock it out asap, oils should be administered every half hour for the first few hours to stop the virus from spreading quickly as they love to do. This technique has proven effective in significantly lessening the length of the sickness.
Kids can benefit too...
There are plenty of child-safe essential oils that can help fend off those pesky germs they bring home from the playground the same way they work with adults. The amount necessary is less. Be sure to have these oils on hand at all times to protect your whole family.
Our favorite oils…
Almost all essential oils have some antiviral and/or antibacterial effectiveness. Some are highly potent in these areas. Eucalyptus is fantastic against a cold, flu and respiratory infections. Ravensara is one of the strongest antiviral oils and often used for bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis, herpes, shingles and more. Thyme is powerful and effective against the flu and acute or chronic infections of the respiratory system. We love Tea Tree Oil since it is gentle and a perfect addition to other antiviral oil blends, especially great for children. Lemon is not only useful for respiratory or throat issues, it has also been known to dissolve tuberculosis bacteria. Lemon oil also helps build white blood cells and boosts the immune system.
Our antiviral blends…
We’ve taken the guess work out for you and thoughtfully crafted and tested our line of oil blends, each specifically designed to target what ails you. Our most popular antiviral blends include the “Flu Fighter”, “Sinus Relief”, “Respiratory Relief”, “Clean & Green”, “Sniffles”,
“Cold Sore Relief” and “Funky Feet”.
How to use them...
Essential oils can be used in many ways including adding them to a bath, as a massage oil, room spray, lotion, soap or spread through the air with a diffuser or candle. Here at BC Essentials, we offer multiple convenient and enjoyable ways to bring essential oils into your life and use them to protect your family against illness.
